Hopelessness
Comes in waves
And just like a baby
Determined and shaky
You try to stand

Some say, “Just keep calm. It’ll be okay.”
But news on the screen is so terrifying
Will this ever change?

I don’t have the answers I wish I could have
I’m not gonna lie and say, “It’s not that bad,”
So let’s take a deep breath and hold on to what we know

Red lights always turn green
Come sunrise, the birds always sing
Even when you can’t see it,
That sun is just over the clouds
The rain falls after each drought
Every tunnel has a way out
I know everything’s up in the air now
But whatever goes up
Always comes back down

One foot first
Feel the earth
Every hour it’s spinning a thousand miles
While we stand still

I don’t know the answers I wish I could know
It’s not all that easy to just “let it go”
When you’re learning too fast
What you can and cannot control
